The Sarnia Sting have signed defenceman Hughston Hurt to an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Standard Player Agreement, the club announced recently.

The Oakland Township, Michigan native was selected by the Sting in the fourth round, 69th overall, of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.

This past season, Hurt tallied three goals and 25 assists in 81 games played for the Detroit Little Caesars 15U AAA team.

The club finished the season with a 71-7-2 record, ranked first overall among 115 teams in the U.S., and captured a state championship.

“Hughston is a player our scouting staff worked diligently on this winter,” said Sting general manager Dylan Seca in a news release.

“He is a two-way defender with good mobility. He’s a competitive player who doesn’t shy away from the physical game and we love both his upside and character.”
