Published on

Sarnia Sting players Jamieson Rees and Ben Gaudreau will suit up for Canada at tournaments this fall.

Gaudreau, rookie goaltender for the Sting, was named to the U-17 National Team roster last week. The Corbeil, Ont. native is one of 66 players to be divided among three Canadian teams at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, held Nov. 2-9 in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Gaudreau was the only Ontario Hockey League (OHL) goaltender selected to play at the tournament, which will pit Canada’s best against teams from Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States

Jamieson Rees will join the best in the league for two games against Russia at the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series next month.

The six-game tournament will feature Russian juniors against the top OHL, Western Hockey League (WHL), and Quebec Minor Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) players.

Rees was one of 15 players chosen to play in both OHL vs. Russia matchups, scheduled for Nov. 7 in Kitchener, and Nov. 11 in London.
