The Sarnia Sting made history Friday night scoring the franchise’s first-ever conference finals goal — but it wasn’t enough to stop the London Knights from taking game one of the series with a 4-1 win at Budweiser Gardens.

Luca Del Bel Belluz opened the scoring in the highly anticipated ‘Battle of the 402’ matchup with a power play goal at 20 seconds to go in the first period.

London fired back with goals from Sean McGurn and Sam Dickinson in the second, and another from Easton Cowan in the third. Ryan Winteron made it 4-1 with an empty-netter at the 19:15 mark.

The series continues at Budweiser Gardens, Sunday at 2 p.m., before shifting to Sarnia’s Sarnia’s Progressive Auto Sales Arena (PASA) for games 3 and 4, Tuesday, May 2 (7:05 p.m.) and Wednesday, May 3 (7 p.m.).
