As expected, the Sarnia Sting selected 16-year-old defenseman Jacob Chychrun first overall in the OHL Priority Selection last weekend. The selection was made by Forest's Tyler McGregor of Team Canada Paralympic Sledge Hockey Team at a news conference at the RBC Centre. "He's a modern day prototypical defenseman," said Sting Head Scout Nick Sinclair. "He has size, speed and strength. He can do it all." Chychrun, the son of former NHLer Jeff Chychrun, said he was thrilled and honoured to be selected by the Sting. "I can't wait to get started," he commented.
