The Sarnia Sting’s Ryan McGregor is ranked 79th among North American prospects by NHL Central Scouting.

“Usually when the ratings come out, my friends and my brother let me know. You’re going to hear about it,” the Burlington native told the Inside Halton newspaper.

“It’s been fun. It’s good to know people are watching, but you just have to play your game. I don’t change my game. I just do what I do.”

McGregor, 18, was the OHL’s West Division scholastic player of the month in January after maintaining an 82% average in his course load, which includes functions, biology and kinesiology.

“Obviously, I’d like to play in the NHL,” he said, “but if I’m not playing pro I think it would be cool to help athletes doing something like physio or massage therapy.”

At presstime, McGregor had 13 goals and nine assists in his second season with the Sting.
