St. Pat’s school lands sold

Published on

The sale of the former St. Patrick’s high school lands to Bluewater Health is finally complete.

The property on East Street sold for $1.85 million, but because the hospital made earlier capital improvements it will pay just $1.3 million to the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.

The old St. Pat’s high school, originally Central Collegiate, was levelled recently and the north end is now a fenced-in green space.

The deal gives the hospital room to expand and will allow two local track clubs continued access to the athletics field on the south side of the property, said Mike Lapaine, the hospital’s president and CEO.

“We had many considerations to address during the transaction, since both parties serve the public’s interests,” he said.
