St. Patrick’s wins Lambton-Kent swimming championships

Swimmers from St. Patrick’s High School dominated the pool last week at the Lambton Kent secondary school swimming championships.

The Fighting Irish won the overall team title as well as the overall girls and overall boys titles at the Sarnia YMCA pool on Jan. 17.

About 90 swimmers from six Lambton-Kent schools participated in the meet.

The overall team title was St. Pat’s fifth in the pool.

Northern Collegiate was second overall and second in the women’s ranking.

The winner of each event and as well as swimmers who met the qualifying standard during the season go on to compete at the SWOSSAA swimming championships for Southwestern Ontario Feb. 21 in Windsor.

The all-Ontario championships this year is in Toronto on March 5-6.
