The Special Investigations Unit has been called in following a motor vehicle collision along St. Clair Parkway in Corunna.

The Ontario Provincial Police West Region posted on Twitter late Wednesday that the intersection of St. Clair Parkway and St. Clair Blvd. was closed “for a short time this afternoon for a motor vehicle collision.”

“As a result, @SIUOntario is currently investigating. Further inquiries should be directed to SIU for comment.”

The Journal has reached out to the SIU for comment.

According to its website, the SIU’s case status database says a “vehicle injury” reported Nov. 16 is currently under investigation, with the Sarnia Police Service. No further information was available Wednesday, and it’s not known if the incidents are linked.

The SIU conducts investigations of the circumstances around serious injuries, allegations of sexual assault, firearm discharges at persons, and deaths in cases involving officials — including municipal and provincial police officers.
