Sarnia’s Michael Marinaro and pairs partner Kirsten Moore-Towers won figure skating silver in Japan.
The 2019 Canadian champions had a score of 208.49 at the ISU Grand Prix on Nov. 23. The second place finish on the final stop of the tour qualified them for their first Grand Prix final since teaming up in 2014.
World champions Wenjing Sui and Cong Han of China won gold with 226.96, and Anastasia Michina and Aleksandr Galliamov of Russia were third at 203.35.
Marinaro and Moore-Towers also won silver last month at Skate Canada International in Kelowna, B.C.
Marinaro, 27, began skating at the Point Edward Skating Club at the age of four. The pairs, who train in Montreal, finished 11th at the 2018 Winter Olympics and sixth at the 2018 world championships in Italy.
