In a few weeks residents will be able to join a new notification system alerting them to tornado warnings, chemical releases and evacuation orders.
The Community Notification Network, or CNN, will contact subscribers about breaking emergencies via cell phones, land lines, email and text messages.
The project is a joint effort of Sarnia, St. Clair Township, Point Edward, Lambton County, local industry and Community Awareness and Emergency Response.
Subscribers will be able join in May on the websites of CAER and participating municipalities.
