Shoreline erosion continues

Published on

Lake Huron continues to nibble away at the Sarnia’s northern shoreline, with little money available for permanent repairs.

Here, the bank has collapsed at the foot of Blackwell Sideroad, a once popular beach that underwent emergency repairs only last fall.

Lake Huron water levels are about 15 centimetres higher than a year ago, and remain 55 cm (22 inches) higher than the 10-year average, according to the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority.
