Sarnians are continuing to get phone calls from scammers pretending to be from the Canada Revenue Agency, city police say.
Often the victim gets a call from someone claiming that taxes are owed and asks for immediate payment by credit card.
Sometimes the caller convinces the victim to provide personal information or to buy a prepaid credit card and call back with the information.
The phony callers often threaten victims with court charges, jail or deportation.
If you get such a call, hang up and report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
