Published on

Sarnia’s Shae-Lynn van Gassen is headed to the U.S. junior college women’s soccer national championships in Florida next week.

She and her Michigan-based Schoolcraft College mates qualified by capturing the Region 12 tournament in Cincinnati earlier this month with a 5-0 win over Muskegon Community College and a 4-1 verdict over Cincinnati State in the final.

The Northern College grad had three goals in the regional tournament.

She ranks second in the nation with 35 goals and 82 points on the season and last week was named regional player of the year and a first team all-star.
