A 40-year-old Sarnia woman was arrested after fleeing police in connection to a stolen vehicle along Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent this week, OPP said Friday.

Police say an Elgin County OPP officer was on general patrol around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday when a disabled vehicle was discovered on the shoulder of Highway 401 westbound at Kent Bridge Road.

Investigation revealed the vehicle had previously been reported stolen from Sarnia.

“While on scene, an individual arrived on foot from the bush lot, observed the officers and fled across the highway,” a news release noted. “After a brief foot pursuit, the individual was taken into custody.”

The woman, charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in April.
