Published on

Sarnia has won an international award at the Communities in Bloom competition in Kamloops, B.C.

The city claimed a ‘5 Bronze’ rating on Oct. 3 in the International Challenge in the very large community category, with special recognition for its remedial action plan in Centennial Park.

Sarnia was competing against Chatham-Kent and Zlin, Czech Republic.

The judges described the plan the city came up with in response to soil contamination in Centennial Park “’clean, green and lean’ both from an environment and renewal perspective.”

Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering pride and beautification through community involvement and the enhancement of green spaces.
