Sarnia Vegfest returns this weekend for the first time since 2019.

The event, slated for Sunday Aug. 6 in Canatara Park, helps promote vegan food and products while educating the community on wellness, sustainability, and non-violence, said organizer Tosha Lobsinger.

“It’s a great way to expose folks to the reasons why people go vegan and choose vegan products, and to meet the vendors and people who are doing this work,” she said.

Lobsinger launched the inaugural Vegfest back in 2017, but hasn’t held the event since the pandemic. She said they’re looking forward to bringing back a full slate of vendors, speakers and activities, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to the food and drink vendors, the event includes beach yoga, pilates, a children’s reading circle, Kids fun zone, life coaching sessions, live music, tarot readings, sound bath, sustainable market, and a presentation from the Animal Protection Party of Canada.

Representatives will also be on hand from Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary, Sweetie’s Rescue, Northwest Ohio Vegan Advocates and Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own containers, cups and cutlery to help support the event’s zero-waste initiatives, which also includes a dish lending and water filling stations.
