The Sarnia Sting have signed both their European prospects for the coming season.
Defenceman Eric Hjorth of Sweden and forward Marek Berka of the Czech Republic were selected in the 2019 CHL Import Draft.
Hjorth, an 18-year-old from Linköping, Sweden, battled injuries last year but caught the eye of NHL scouts and was taken in the 4th round by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The six-foot-three blueliner suited up for his hometown Linkoping HC (U18) last season and scored two goals in eight playoff games.
Marek Berka spent most of last season with HC Litvinov in the Czech League. The six-foot forward had 29 goals and 50 points in 48 games.
Sarnia returns to the ice Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:05 p.m. against the Hamilton Bulldogs at Progressive Auto Sales Arena. For tickets visit www.sarniasting.com.
