Sarnia Police honour OPP officer killed in eastern Ontario

The Canadian flag is flying at half mast at Sarnia Police Headquarters in memory of OPP Sergeant Eric Mueller who was shot and killed early Thursday morning in eastern Ontario.

Officials say two other officers remain in hospital, after all three were shot while responding to a disturbance call around 2 a.m. in the community of Bourget.

"We are devastated to learn of the murder of OPP Sgt. Eric Mueller," Sarnia Police posted on Twitter, Thursday.

"The SPS mourns alongside the policing community over this senseless loss.

"Our thoughts are with the other officers who have been hospitalized, and their families and colleagues."

A news conference was scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, according to an OPP news release.
