The 21 finalists are chosen based on access to broadband Internet, having a knowledgeable workforce, innovation, digital equality, sustainability and advocacy.

It’s the third year in a row Sarnia-Lambton made the final 21, which are chosen from 400 applicants worldwide by the Intelligent Community Forum.

Other finalists this year include Niagara Falls, Ont., Kelowna, B.C.; Espoo, Finland; and Adelaide, Australia.

The top seven will be announced in the new year.
