Sarnia-area players did well at the 58th annual Francis J. Robinson Memorial Tournament in Port Huron, which is a highlight of the local tennis calendar.

Ryan Davies captured the 10s Boys singles title and Tino DiBattista won the 55s Men’s singles title at the tourney, held Aug. 5-9.

Four others reached the finals: Andrew Davies (16s Boys), Betty Latosinsky (35s Women’s) and Marian Polakovic (45s Men’s) in singles flights, along with Evan Duggal (14s Boys), Davies (18s Boys) and Latosinsky (35s Women’s) in doubles paired with partners from the Port Huron area.

Twelve others made semifinal appearances in singles, doubles and mixed events: Evan Duggal, Chandler Haagsma, Ryan Davies, Jaxon Bore, Andrew Davies, Michael Coleman, Justin Bourassa, Geoff Bore, Tino DiBattista, Monika Polakovic, Sarah Barry and Betty Latosinsky.

The tournament, one of the longest-running community tennis events in the U.S., had 255 players participate this year, including 21 from Sarnia-Lambton.
