Bluewater Health is reminding residents not to avoid visiting the emergency department if they need urgent attention.

Chief of staff Dr. Mike Haddad said he know of patients, including some with heart attack or stroke, who held off going to hospital because of the pandemic.

“If you or a loved one are very ill or have an emergency health issue, please seek care at the emergency department and don’t hesitate,” he said.

Because of COVID-19, the hospital has stepped up patient screening, increased cleaning, limiting visitors, and ensured staff wear personal protective equipment.

Patients should seek primary care for everyday health needs from their doctor or a virtual walk-in clinic.
