The Royal Canadian Legion is reminded residents that Sarnia’s Remembrance Day services are returning to their traditional venue in Veterans Park on Monday, Nov. 11.

Last year’s service was moved to a packed Sarnia Arena to accommodate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

The parade will form up as usual on Front Street at the Branch 62 Legion Hall at 10:20 a.m., and step off at 10:35 a.m.

The parade route heads south on Front Street to George Street, then south on Christina before turning onto Wellington and arriving at Veterans Park.

Services begin at 10:57 a.m. sharp with the playing of ‘O Canada.’

Once again, the Sarnia Legion is holding its annual Candlelight Vigil on Sunday, Nov. 10, when candles are lit in tribute to our veterans.

For a minimum $5 donation, candles can be lit in memory of an unknown soldier, or family member or friend who has served or is serving.

The event begins at City Hall at 7 p.m. at the Front Street entrance, and participants walk to the Legion Cenotaph to place candles, which are available at the Legion Hall, 286 Front St. N.
