A forward with the Sarnia Sting is trying out for Canada’s U20 hockey team.

Jamieson Rees and 36 other Canadian prospects suited up for a series of matches against Team U.S.A., Sweden and Finland July 27 to Aug. 4 in Plymouth, Michigan.

The Canadian players are divided into Red and White teams at the first of two development camps this year, which will be used to determine the final roster for the 2020 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Czech Republic Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

Rees, an 18-year-old Hamilton native, had 10 goals and 22 assists in 37 games last season with the Sting.

The Carolina Hurricanes selected him second round, 44th overall, at this year’s NHL Draft.
