The cleanup continued this week following a series of city watermain breaks caused by a power failure on Aug. 3.

The outage impacted the water plant and resulted in surges within the water distribution system, rupturing watermains in at least nine different areas, City Hall said.

The damage left an undetermined number of homes without water and other experienced reduced pressure, said operations manager Bryan Prouse.

Watermains on Wellington Street, Jordan Drive, Telfer Road and Emma Street were repaired quickly, followed by those on Colborne Road, Lougar Avenue, Lansdowne Avenue, Proctor Street and Airport Road.
