Sarnia Police say they've identified the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit and run collision with a cyclist, Monday.

"Earlier today the 19-year-old male driver of the vehicle came forward to police allowing the Traffic Unit the ability to continue their investigation into the collision," said Const. John Sottosanti in a news release. "We would like to thank the public for their assistance into this matter as the investigation continues."

Officers with the traffic division began the investigation around 2:50 p.m., Monday, into the incident involving a cyclist, and a fleeing vehicle, on Michigan Avenue, near the intersection of Briarfield Avenue.

The cyclist was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released later that evening.
