The 38th annual Celebration of Lights kicked off Saturday with festive music and cheer.

Hundreds gathered around the Suncor Agora stage to hear the band play, while the kids danced to the music. They were all waiting to see Santa and Santa didn’t disappoint. Santa along with Mrs. Claus and a number of jolly souls all sang Santa’s favorite songs triggering the lights to turn on and set off the fireworks.

After enjoying the fireworks, people ventured into the park to explore the new light displays and take selfies in the glitter and glow of the lights.

Santa stayed to listen to all the wishes the kids had while the adults enjoyed the coffee and hot chocolate provided by Imperial Oil and Blackwater Coffee. Cogeco also provided free popcorn.

The annual horse drawn carriages were also back again and people were really enjoying a ride by the lights as the horses quietly trotted up and down Front Street.

Lights will be on nightly from 5-11 pm now until January 1.
