One of the Sarnia Sting’s top scorers is headed to the NHL.

Right-winger Jacob Perreault has signed a three-year contact with the Anaheim Ducks, the club announced.

The 18-year-old Montreal native led the Sting with 39 goals and 31 assists last season. He ranked fifth in points per game, and tied for 10th in goals in the Ontario Hockey League’s 2019-2020 season.

Perreault became only the fifth 16-year-old in Sting history to score 30 goals in his rookie year, earning him a spot in the league's First All-Rookie Team in 2018-2019.

Perreault was picked by Anaheim 27th overall in the 2020 NHL draft. He’s the son of former NHLer Yanic Perreault, who played 176 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
