People with Disabilities Day

Accessing sports and recreational activities is the theme of Sarnia’s 4th annual International Day of People with Disabilities event on Dec. 2.

Hosted by the city and Lambton College, the event at the college’s Event Centre runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon and features a line-up of special guests.

Tracy Schmitt is a four-way amputee and Paralympian bronze medalist who has climbed mountains in Nepal; Gabriel Flamminio is a massage therapist who provides treatment for Canada’s wheelchair basketball athletes; Dan Edwards is a Sarnia-based motivational speaker and business marketing administration graduate; and Amy Brand is a Sarnia mother, high school physical education teacher and past president of the local Down Syndrome Association.
