Children in south Sarnia will soon have new state-of-the-art playground equipment.

Additions coming to Wayne Park this month include a tower-like ‘spider net,’ a climbing gateway suspended above the ground, and a five-bay accessible swing set.

Enbridge Pipeline is spending $126,000 remediating the park after using it during construction of its Line 5 pipeline replacement beneath the St. Clair River.

Park furniture, a pathway and trees are also being added. Wayne Park runs between Wayne and Virgil avenues near the Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for the spring.
