Ottawa will kick in up to $6 million for Sarnia-Lambton’s oversized load corridor.

Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau made the announcement at Sarnia Harbour last week.

The $12-million project, which has already begun, will relocate or remove signs, lights and other obstructions to make it faster and cheaper for local industry and fabricating companies to move large industrial components to and from the Harbour.

Sarnia has committed just over $4.7 million and Lambton County $1.2 million.

“I am excited for the future job opportunities that this project will create for our local economy,” said Sarnia-Lambton MP Marilyn Gladu.

Sarnia submitted an application to the National Trade Corridor in 2017.
