The public and Catholic school boards are hosting an orientation day on Aug. 17 for parents and first-time school bus riders from junior kindergarten to Grade 1.
The free event at the Education Centre at 200 Wellington St. runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is designed to help familiarize first-time riders.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to watch a brief animated school bus safety video and board a bus for a short ride.
Trainers will be on-site to talk about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street, and how to evacuate a bus in an emergency.
The 30 minutes sessions run continuously and no reservations are required.
