Published on

Marie and Joseph are the top Ontario baby names of all time, the provincial government says.

Following the 1920s, Marie ranked as the most popular girl name for four decades, closely followed by Mary. Joseph ranked as the top boy name over a 30-year period.

In 2017, Olivia remained the most popular baby name for girls, while Noah replaced Benjamin as the top boy name, according to the Ontario government, which began recording baby names 100 years ago.

Rounding out the top five baby girl names are Emma, Charlotte, Ava and Amelia.

Liam, William and Logan were second, fourth and fifth among popular boy names.
