A woman is in London hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after an overnight shooting in Sarnia, police say.

Police say the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when officers were called to a residence in the area of Proctor and Talfourd Streets regarding a shooting that took place.

“Upon arrival, police located an adult female suffering from an obvious gunshot wound,” a news release stated, Friday. “She was subsequently transported to a London hospital for medical attention. Her injuries are considered to be serious but non-life threatening.”

The investigation is continuing by the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Division, and police are expected to be on scene and in the area for the remainder of the day, Friday. 

“This appears to be a targeted and isolated incident, with no additional safety concerns to the public,” police added.
