Officials at Fiddick's Nursing Home in Petrolia say one resident has tested positive for COVID-19.
"Our Retirement Home has has met the criteria for covid-19 outbreak," spokesperson Mandy Judah confirmed to The Journal late Friday. "We had a resident transferred to hospital on Tuesday who later tested positive for Covid-19.
"We are working with Lambton Public Health to determine if there is any further prevalence of Covid-19 in the home," she added. "There are currently no residents in the retirement home with symptoms, however we did complete testing this morning and we are awaiting the results of covid-19 swab results."
Bluewater Health spokesperson Julia Oosterman confirmed Friday that the patient is an 84-year-old woman from the nursing home, who was admitted to Petrolia hospital before being transferred to Sarnia.
The Journal also confirmed late Friday that an inmate at the Sarnia Jail has tested positive for the virus.
As of Friday night, Lambton Public Health confirmed the outbreak on its website, and listed one active case for the region.
