OHL Playoffs: Sting take Game 1 of Western Conference Semi-Finals

The Sarnia Sting cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Saginaw Spirit Friday night as the OHL Western Conference Semi-Finals got underway at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The Sarnia Sting cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Saginaw Spirit Friday night as the OHL Western Conference Semi-Finals got underway at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Goaltender Ben Gaudreau was in net for the shutout, as Easton Wainwright opened the scoring with his third of the playoffs.

The game remained 1-0 through to the third period, when Zach Filak scored to make it 2-0 before Sasha Pastujov’s empty-netter sealed the deal for a 3-0 win.

Game 2 is set for Sunday in Sarnia, before the series shifts to the Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan, Tuesday April 18 (7:05 p.m.) and Thursday, April 20 (7:05 p.m.)

If necessary, Game 5 is scheduled for April 22 in Sarnia (7:05 p.m.); Game 6 in Saginaw, April 23 (5:30 p.m.); and Game 7 at PASA, April 25 (7:05 p.m.)
