Lambton College’s dream of opening a new Health & Research Centre took another step toward reality when Nova Chemicals committed $2 million to the project.
The donation announced Oct. 30 is the largest single educational investment ever made by the local manufacturer.
The money will be used primarily to fund construction of the building, which will now be known as the Nova Chemicals Health & Research Centre.
“We recognize and are eager to see the benefits that the new centre will have in the community,” said Tom Thompson, the company’s regional manufacturing director.
Nova is one of the region’s largest industrial companies with nearly 1,000 employees.
Since 2008 it has hired 118 Lambton College graduates.
