Bluewater Health has recruited nine new physicians, including a neurologist and a geriatric specialist.

Four of the newcomers, doctors Rushika Perera, Nick Latham, Mark Woodcroft and Gregory Douglas, will work in the emergency department, the hospital said.

The ER ran into an unexpected shortage last fall, “So I am really pleased that we have four new emergency physicians joining us,” said Dr. Mike Haddad, the chief of staff.

Dr. Amanda Giffin, a Sarnia native, has returned home to work in geriatric medicine.

Also joining the medical staff are Dr. Basavaraj Shettar, a neurologist; Dr. Brittany Hoover, an obstetrician/gynecologist; Dr. Jason Akindolire, an orthopedic surgeon; and Dr. Ibraheem Afzal, a radiologist.
