Next phase of sewer work approved

Published on

Emma, John, and Mary streets will be closed and reconstructed during the next phase of Sarnia’s ongoing sewer separation program.

Chatham-based Henry Heyink Construction was the lowest of seven bidders and awarded the contract for $2.8 million.

Separating sanitary sewers from storm water sewers helps prevent human waste from being discharged to the St. Clair River and reduces treatment of rainwater at the Water Pollution Control Centre.

The project, which is taking place between Devine and Confederation streets, was expected to begin immediately and continue until the fall.
