Part of the leaking roof at Sarnia’s Progressive Auto Sales Arena will be replaced this year.

The city has hired Scarborough-based T. Hamilton and Sons Roofing for the project’s first phase, at a cost of $319,000.

The roofing is the original to the building, which opened as the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre in 1998.

The south end will be done first due to continued leaking and repairs, according to a recent staff report.

Hamilton, the lowest of eight bidders, will install 7,750 square feet of roofing with a 40-year warranty.
