Change at the top is coming to the largest public sector organization in Sarnia-Lambton.

Bluewater Health has announced Mike Lapaine will become president and CEO on Jan. 1, giving him oversight of the hospitals in Sarnia and Petrolia.

Currently vice-president of operations, Lapaine came to Bluewater Health in 2008 from the Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance.

He has a Masters of Business Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant, and also holds a degree in English literature.

Lapaine will replace Sue Denomy, who has decided to retire after seven years as president and CEO and a 40-year career as nurse and administrator.

“There are many moments and interactions with staff, patients, families and healthcare colleagues that I will always remember,” Denomy said.

“It was especially exciting to see the culmination of years of planning come to fruition when we opened the new hospital in Sarnia …”

Bluewater Health is 326-bed community hospital with nearly 2,500 staff, professional staff and volunteers.
