A new event in Sarnia premiers May 7 with the first annual Purses, Pies and Pinot.

The fundraiser at Jack Doyle’s features an evening of wine, cheese and hors-d'oeuvres, along with silent auctions, live music and games of chance.

The event is capped with a live auction featuring lots and lots of purses, wines and pies donated by local businesses.

“We’re auctioning off at leave 50 to 60 purses, and people will have no idea what’s in them,” explained spokesperson Sue Baert.

“But one lucky person will find a ($500) diamond in their purse.”

Other hidden prizes include cash, sunglasses and gift certificates for retail goods and local dining.

“Every purse will have something unique in it. It could be anything,” Baert said.

Proceeds from the event will be split between the new Sarnia Prostate Clinic and The Chris Dawson Foundation.

Tickets, $25, include a draw every three months for a package of purses, pies and wine over the coming year.

Things begin at 6 p.m., Jack Doyle’s, 1249 London Rd. For more, call 519-383-6953
