New emergency service for the deaf

Sarnia-Lambton residents with hearing or speech impairments now have an alternative way to communicate during an emergency. Texting 9-1-1 allows registered cell phone users to alert emergency officials and receive a response via text message.

Participants must register for the T9-1-1 service on the website of their cell phone provider.
