New education director hired for public school board

The Lambton Kent District School Board has found a new leader. John Howitt has been hired as director of education and will replace Jim Costello when he retires July 31 after nine years on the job.

John Howitt has been hired as director of education and will replace Jim Costello when he retires July 31 after nine years on the job.

Howitt is currently an education superintendent with the Greater Essex County District School Board. He has been with the board for 27 years as a teacher and administrator.

At Lambton Kent, he will oversee almost 22,000 students in 62 schools in Sarnia, Lambton County and Chatham-Kent.
