More people with dementia registered with police

Published on

A recent registration day organized by Sarnia Police and the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia–Lambton saw another 16 individuals with dementia registered with police.

A photo, description, and health information of each was recorded to assist searchers in the event that person wanders off.

Three out of five people living with dementia go missing at some point, and half of those not found within 24 hours sustain serious injury or die, police say.

Police say it’s still possible for families to register a loved one by calling 519-344-8861, ext. 5205, and making an appointment to meet with an officer.
