March’s First Friday packing music, munchies and more

Journal Staff Sarnia’s downtown is ready to roll out its lineup of activities for the third First Friday cultural walkabout of 2019 on Friday, March 1. Many stores and galleries are open till 9 p.m. and street and lot parking is free after 6 p.m.

Sarnia’s downtown is ready to roll out its lineup of activities for the third First Friday cultural walkabout of 2019 on Friday, March 1.

Many stores and galleries are open till 9 p.m. and street and lot parking is free after 6 p.m. For updates, visit Sarnia First Friday on Facebook.

The March line-up includes:

 JUDITH & NORMAN ALIX ART GALLERY - 147 Lochiel St – 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.  Opening night of Chasing Vibrato: Rita Letendre. Drawing works from JNAAG and Museum London’s permanent collections, Chasing Vibrato investigates Letendre’s experiments with new mediums.

ARTOPIA GALLERY & FRAMING - 188 Christina St N – 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. New ceramic work by Natalie Prevost.

PARALLEL JUNCTION, Unique Handcrafted Gifts & Decor - 176 Christina St. N. 5 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Grand Opening of the new business features live music by Bruce Clarke, snacks, refreshments and giveaways.

ZZAS PIZZA BISTRO - 170 Christina St N – 6 p.m. -9 p.m.  Live music with Blackmore & Blackmore

R.W. LAWTON GALLERY, located behind the Imperial Theatre Box Office by The Capitol Bar. 168 Christina St. N - Displaying large paintings by Donna Powers-Garner, James Burden, Rita Viscount, Regina Gudelis, and Bill Walters.

CHEEKY MONKEY - 130 Christina St. N – 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Music with the dynamic trio, Noise Pollution, plus an exhibit and sale by artist Bill Walters.

COWBOYS & INDIANS - 121 Christina St. N - Open till 9 p.m. and featuring works by local   First Nations Artists.

THE LAWRENCE HOUSE CENTRE FOR THE ARTS - 127 Christina St. S. - 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sarnia Artists’ Workshop presents “Square Foot Show,” with each piece of art being one square foot in size. Music by singer-songwriter Hazel Pretty.

THE COVE WELLNESS - 140 Front St. S. – opens 5:30 p.m. - Gentle Yoga Karma Class: drop-in with a donation toward St. Clair Child & Youth (minimum $5). All welcome. Reserve a space by text or call at 519-330-3060. (Under 17 requires parental consent.) Refreshments and a "meet the team" to follow 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

ONE TOOTH - 155 Front St N – 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. - Demi Krall performing.

CAFE YOGA: Sarnia Reiki, Meditation & Yoga - 150.5 Front St. N. Suite 7 – 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Starting a weekend of Sacred Geometry. Enjoy art, music, hot drinks and good vibes.

ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION, BRANCH 62 - 286 Front St N. – 8 p.m. to midnight - Music and dancing with The Sarnia Kitchen Party Band.
