Man charged with attempted murder in city home invasion

Two men have been arrested in connection with a city home invasion Thursday morning that sent a man to hospital, Sarnia Police say.

Police say two men forced their way into a south-end home where a lone male was sleeping in the early hours of the morning.

The victim was threatened and assaulted with two different weapons, causing serious injuries to his head and arm, police say.

The two men left and threatened to return. The victim left through a window and contacted police. Forensic and criminal investigators joined uniformed officers at the scene.

Two suspects were arrested around 5:30 a.m. near the scene and one of them had a weapon police believe was used in the assault.

The victim was treated and released at Bluewater Health.

Lee Cory Martin, 49, of Sarnia, was charged with 12 criminal counts, including attempted murder, assault with a wooden stick and uttering threats.

Daniel Thomas Wood, 23, of Sarnia, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and a weapon dangerous to the public.

Both accused appeared before a Justice of the Peace Thursday afternoon and remain in custody.
