Log cabin’s fate still undecided

It’s still now known whether the Canatara Park log cabin will be rebuilt or replicated, but the city has moved to amend its heritage designation so the work can proceed. The project could begin after 30 days if there are no objections.

It’s still now known whether the Canatara Park log cabin will be rebuilt or replicated, but the city has moved to amend its heritage designation so the work can proceed.

The project could begin after 30 days if there are no objections.

The Seaway Kiwanis Club is prepared to cover half the $100,000 cost of replacing the cabin, with the rest coming from the Judith and Norman Alix Foundation, Bluewater Power and the city’s parks and recreation department.

But others are pushing for a more expensive option. Backed by the opinion of a log restoration expert, they hope the cabin can be taken apart, the logs repaired, and reassembled.
