A dozen local youth organizations received a boost this past weekend when the Sting Assists Community Fund presented $65,000 in fundraising from its 2021-2022 campaign.

The program, a branch of the Sarnia Sting, collects donations through community outreach events like golf tournaments, 50-50 draws, jersey raffles and online auctions.

Money raised goes to support local youth sports, scholarships, charities and community ticket initiatives.

On Sunday, Sting Assists executives Cameron Gordon, Lynn La-Faive and Fred Sterling presented a cheque to representatives from the following community organizations:

Lambton AAA Hockey; Sarnia Minor Hockey; Lady Sting; SLEDGE Hockey; Mooretown Lady Flags; Lambton Shores Minor Hockey; East Lambton Minor Hockey; Noelle’s Gift; Pathways Health Centre for Children; Petrolia Minor Hockey; Point Edward Minor Hockey; and Mooretown Minor Hockey.
