Shell is no longer actively trying to sell its Sarnia Manufacturing Centre.

The company said last month it had taken the property off the market and will continue to operate the local refinery and chemical plant.

Shell announced in January of 2019 it wanted to divest itself of the Sarnia operations, along with distribution terminals in Sarnia and Hamilton and a 45% interest in the Sun-Canadian Pipeline.

“Despite being in negotiations with a prospective buyer for some time those negotiations were unsuccessful,” external relations manager Olwen Gover said in a release.

The company thanked its staff and contractors for the plant’s safe and reliable operation despite almost two years of uncertainty.
