Local residents 80 years of age and older can book a COVID-19 vaccine appointments at one of three fixed site clinics in Sarnia-Lambton starting today.

Those who are eligible are asked to book the appointment through Ontario’s new booking system here: Ontario.ca/bookvaccine

The website is the preferred method for scheduling the shot because of the high call volume expected. However, the Lambton Public Health call centre is also open to assist, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 519-383-8331.

The booking system requires users to book both a first and second immunization appointment at the same time. Appointments for second doses are required up to 110 days following the first dose.

The provincial booking system does not currently allow a user to book a single appointment.

Lambton’s Medical Officer of Health said residents 80 and older who have not already received been vaccinated can begin getting shots later this week.

“Please remember to be patient and kind to one another as we continue to navigate this vaccine rollout,” Dr. Sudit Ranade said.

“LPH and its partners are working diligently to immunize as many people as possible, as quickly as we can, and as vaccine supply becomes more readily available."

While it’s recommended people book within their own local region there is no restriction on where an appointment can be scheduled within Ontario if the individual meets eligibility requirements.
